From the Satsang video: (everyone is laughing pretty much throughout it, common at Papaji satsangs)
"Why mr. so and so, why are you so serious always? Why are you wearing this dead man's face? You don't smile. Neither from front or from back. Anything can be accepted there must be some life. Maybe exhaust is in the back. You can still see the car is in good order, no? You may change the oil later on, doesn't matter. But the car is running. But you are alive. He said in my place if I laugh like you, and I'm a teacher ya know. I have to sit like this. Otherwise, we Americans are very serious people, not like Indians. An Indian can laugh but if we laugh in America we are in some other place. A van will come, police van maybe and take us into that place because loving is not allowed on the foot paths, neither in the supermarkets, neither in the hotels. It's not allowed. I was staying at Washington in some hotel and then I started laughing, I have no control over my laughing. There was a knock and someone else was in the same room. 'Someone is objecting, it is now 11pm. Somebody is objecting to your laughing", and it was five star hotel I was staying in. I said, 'but I paid for it" (erupting laughter from audience), and this hotel management said "you are not to laugh" He said, "this man complained. He had said someone is disturbing me I want to go to sleep" He gave him another room. All was well, ya see? If you cannot hear the laugh of a person, what is the use of that civilization? What is the use of being in a human body? What's the use?
