U.S. President; A Sage

There was a huge outcry over Obama's speech to school children that he was going to be indoctrinating the youth into socialism. And it turned out to be an inspirational speech, but one that I felt reading it transcended age-relevance. There are alot of things about Obama that remind me of a Ramana Maharshi, or a Nome only holding a high political office, an example of showing people how to act wisely. In taoism there is the notion of the taoist emperor sage. the verses on how the sage governs remind me of how Obama governs. And his advise reminds me alot of Nome's, where he is really advising people to look within beyond circumstance. I watch Obama clips almost as much as Nome clips or Papaji clips because I recognize that there is a fountain of wisdom there. When I went to Society of Abidance in Truth the first time, I reacted very negatively and angrily to Nome. and some of the right wing reaction to Obama has been far more heated then to any previous president. And I think partly because a Jnani's grace and wisdom contrasts so much more strongly with the ignorance and egotism and is much more of a threat, then someone who is ideologically opposed. To be quite honest, I'm not sure there has been as grace-fountain of national leader of any country for maybe many centuries then Obama. When I've recently become inspired by Lincoln. I was into anarchist politics. But I've come to the conclusion, that what I oppose is less the state, although perhaps a more stateless way of things would be better, but the unwise, egotistical, dishonest, immature, authoritarian way people have run countries as far back I can remember and throughout most of history. I was noticing a similar phenomenon with Lincoln as to Obama as far as U.S. presidents. Even as an 'anarchist', when I passed the Lincoln statue in the Park Blocks, I felt some reverence. Because of his melancholy, thoughtful expression. That he was president during a catosphrophic civil war. But not just any civil war, one that was largely based around the ending of slavery. So there was something holy about that war. It was also noticeable that in keeping with my theory that Obama and Lincoln are the two 'Enlightened' presidents, Lincoln's election caused a huge outcry from the pro-slavery people. even though Lincoln's rhetoric was largely moderate, wanting to prevent slavery from expanding. Part of that I think is because it was known that Lincoln was strongly anti-slavery even if he was rhetorically somewhat careful. he had said things in the Lincoln douglas debates that reading them had a strong tone of slavery being strongly exclusive to the principles the country was founded on, namely all men are created equal. But I also suspect someone who was abiding in the egoless state of grace and bliss, was strongly provacative to people who are abiding in their own illusory self-importance, and that's what I see with Obama.
