


One of my professors works with Extremophile micro-organisms, specifically a genus called sulfolobus. It is very good at living at hot temperatures. The proteins that make it run essentially, are designed by the organism, in such a way that they are stable at higher temperatures. Here are 2 of the Sulfolobus proteins. The picture above they produce the red of those rocks. And the picture above that, is a picture of a single organism Sofolobus 1 = 1vgp Isozyme of Citrate Synthase (purple)

Enzymes which are proteins that facillitate chemical reactions in the cell usually end in the suffix, -ase. The top image is the enzyme/protein in one of the species of sulfolobus that is responsible for DNA replication, which are known as DNA polymerase enzymes because they construct DNA with each nucleotide (letter) in the molecular sequence.
